Department Members

Background

There's a company overview on the intranet. Contents may be changed easily by administrators or designated power users. Of course, this example may also be placed on a personal (private) user's page.

Since EasyView is able to run as multi-instance, we use one EasyView to select an organization unit (department), and the other one to display its members. The Link Feature provides a bridge between the two instances.

 

Features

  • EasyView provides some fields as active links:
    • Profile Pages: Click to open organization's or user's profile page
    • Skype, Phone, Mail: Click to open the associated app, where current address will be used directly to chat on Skype, make a phone call or to send a mail message.

 

Story

  • As employee, I need a directory which provides interactive phone numbers, mail addresses and link to profile pages to make collaboration easier.
  • As a leader of an international company or organization, I need to have a free-to-configure people directory available. There are many use cases - no chance to cover them with a static directory.

 

Configuration

  • Add first EasyView instance to page. This is the EasyView we use for Organization Selection.
  • Add second EasyView instance to page. This is the EasyView we use to display members of Selected Organization.
  • USER Instance
    • Select widget configuration
    • Choose USER as datasource (default)
    • Select columns from the list and add them to the definition. USER_ID must be included for proper linking the instances. Set this column invisible! Click Edit button on column, then opt-out VISIBILITY property in the properties list on the bottom.
    • Set report title and subtitle
    • Save
  • ORGANIZATION Instance
    • Select Widget Configuration
    • Choose ORGANIZATION as datasource
    • Select columns from the list and add them to the definition. MEMBER_IDS must be included for proper linking the instances. Set this column invisible! Click Edit button on column, then opt-out VISIBILITY property in the properties list on the bottom.
    • Create link to users (main tab)
      • Click checkbox "Enable Action"
      • (Below) Select instance from list (report title will appear for orientation)
      • Click apply (important!)
    • Save
  • Note: Localize Column Headers (also contained in widget configuration)
    • Click Edit button in column you want to change
    • Below, in properties list, click Translate button in entry COLUMN_TITLE
    • Enter text in the translation form. Input fields correspond to available languages defined in the portal.
    • Click Close button ("X") in the upper right corner.
    • Click Save button in the appropriate column.
  • Go!

EasyView - How to use

  • Search
    • Type-in search expression, EasyView searches while your typing and reduces data according to current expression.
  • Sort
    • Click on up/down arrow on column headers.
    • Multi-Sort: Shift-Click on further column headers.
  • Filter
    • [Last Row] Select an item from list, where provided.
  • Move columns (non-persistent)
    • Drag Column Header to desired position.
  • Interaction
    • Click Image to open profile page (user, organization or site)
    • Click Mail, Skype or Phone entry to establish action.
  • Export/Copy to clipboard
    • Click corresponding buttons in report header
